Uniform policy

This Uniform Policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions for attending classes.

All students are required to dress appropriately for the dance activity they are participating in.

All students are required to wear the regulation footwear for all classes.

Dancewear

PAD stocks and sells dancewear and footwear. For information about ordering, fittings and payments please see the dancewear policy page.

Regulation T-shirts and Hoodies can be ordered by emailing [email protected]. The current price list can be found in our dancewear catalogue.

For classes

  • All female students must wear a leotard (any style/colour for classes) with appropriate leg wear such as leggings/ tights.
  • Crop tops are not advised without a leotard worn underneath.
  • Skirts must be detachable, so can be removed for acrobatics.
  • Male students can choose to wear a male leotard or a T-shirt and appropriate leg wear (such as joggers/ shorts).
  • Outer layers are recommended to keep warm at the beginning of classes. These must be removed for acrobatics
  • All hair long enough to be tied up must be for classes. This should be done prior to entering the class.
  • All jewellery should be removed. All recent piercings should be covered with either a plaster or micro porous tape prior to entering the class. Jewellery is not allowed to be worn at shows or exams, even if recently pierced these must be removed.

New Students

  • New students should wear appropriate clothing for physical activity such as leggings/ joggers and a T-shirt. Pumps or clean trainers can be worn to dance in.
  • New students should have the required class uniform by their 5th class (One month in)

Exam Uniform

Outlined below is the regulation uniform required for the general examinations taken in core and tots classes. Additional uniform is required for examinations in extra classes.

Tots/ Younger Juniors/ Older Juniors Exam Uniform

  • Black Sleeveless Lycra Leotard with Pinch on Chest
  • Footed Shimmer Tights- Toast Shade
  • Black Cotton Headband fastened to hair with hair grips to match hair colour.( Primark and Wilkinson’s sell these very cheap)
  • Pink Leather Ballet Shoes with elastic sewn across front of ankle
  • White Tap Shoes ( without heel taps)
  • Black Rubber Soled Pumps or Black Rubber Soled Jazz Pumps ( worn for Acro and Modern/ Street)

Hair must be neatly tied back, fixed into place with the black headband, matching grips and bobble to hair colour and hair spray. If long enough this should be in either one or two French plaits.

  • No Jewellery
  • No Nail Varnish
  • No transfer tattoos
  • Only nude seamless knickers may be worn- no other underwear.


Intermediate Foundation & Intermediate Exam Uniform

  • Black Sleeveless Lycra Leotard with Pinch on Chest
  • Black footed tights for MI, tap and acro (same as used at show)
  • Pink seamless ballet tights for ballet
  • Black leggings worn over leotard for street jazz
  • Black Cotton Headband fastened to hair with hair grips to match hair colour. (Primark and Wilkinson’s sell these very cheap)
  • Pink Leather Ballet Shoes with elastic sewn across front of ankle for ballet
  • Black ballet shoes with elastic for Musical Interpretation
  • Black Tap Shoes
  • Black Rubber Soled Jazz Pumps (worn for Acro and Street)
  • If students own black jazz sneakers, these may be worn for street jazz exam.

Boys Exam Uniform

  • White T-shirt
  • Black Joggers for Street
  • Black Shorts (without any logos) for all other subjects
  • Black Ankle Socks
  • Black Leather Ballet Shoes with elastic sewn across front of ankle
  • Black Tap Shoes ( without heel taps)
  • Black Rubber Soled Pumps or Black Rubber Soled Jazz Pumps ( worn for Acro and Street)
